Back in 1993, graphic designer brothers Markus and Daniel Freitag were on the lookout for a messenger bag. Zurich citizens worthy of the name travel by bicycle - 'velo,' they call it. When it rains, they get wet. The FREITAG brothers wanted a heavy-duty, functional and water-repellent bag to carry their designs. Inspired by the cheerfully coloured lorries rumbling along the cross-Zurich highway just in front of their flat, they cut a messenger bag out of an old truck tarpaulin. As the carry belt, they used second-hand car seat-belt webbing, while an old bicycle inner tube provided the edging.

Take our colleague and designer Leandro for example, who moved to Dakar with his friend Dario to customize wooden surfboards with local craftsmen. In the workshop where our craftsmen usually run their blades lovingly along used truck tarps, Leandro & Dario treated us to an evening of soup and beers. 150 BAGS FOR 150 YEARS

16 years ago we opened the very first FREITAG store in Davos at 1,560 meters above sea level. The place with the blue-yellow emblem is also the home of the world’s first t-bar skilift and is currently celebrating the arrival of its first winter guests in the year 1865.

With 150 bags we toast to 150 years of snow, ski and après ski holidays! The blue-yellow special edition is exclusively available at the Davos store and in the lower country F-Stores in Zurich, Hamburg and Shibuya.
